DHAKA: A police member was run over by a requisitioned police vehicle at the playground of Armed Police Battalion (APBn) in city’s Uttara area on Monday evening.

The deceased was identified as Rasel Mia, 28, son of Wasim Uddin, hailed from Char Chataria village of Sarisabari upazila of Jamalpur district.

Sub-Inspector of Uttara (east) Thana Helal Uddin Ahmed told banglanews that a requisitioned vehicle of police rammed Rasel Mia around 7:00pm while he along with some police members was gossiping at the APBn playground, leaving him dead on the spot.

On Tuesday morning, after autopsy, his body was taken to Razarbagh police line for Namaz-e-Janaza and later will be taken to his village home for burial, the SI added.
