DHAKA: The Election Commission (EC) has transferred eight Upazila Nirbahi Officers for their negligence in performing duty during the 10th parliamentary elections held on Sunday.

The Election Commission issued the direction on Tuesday.    

According to the orders, the UNO are Chilmari UNO Ashrafuzzaman, Debiganj UNO Tofazzal Hossain, Nababganj UNO Syed Farhad Hossain, UNO Ahsan Habib, Mamun-Ul-Hasan, Mahbubul Haque, Ahsan Habib and Abu Raha M Arif of Sundarganj, Polashbari, Sadullahpur and Gobindaganj of Gaibandha district.

The EC sources said that they were transferred as they failed to maintain law-and-order situation in the upazila’s during the 10th parliamentary polls.
