Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested a person from Joypurhat along with four gold bars (40 Bhori) for allegedly smuggling gold into neighboring India.
The matter was disclosed in a press conference in the conference room of Joypurhat-20 BGB on Friday (March 8) afternoon.
BGB Commander Lt. Col. Mohammad Tanjilur Rahman Bhuiyan confirmed the matter.
He said around 7:30 am, Mostakim was smuggling 40 bhori gold into India.
At that time, BGB members patrolling raided pillar number 289 of Hili border of Dinajpur and arrested him, he said.
The arrestee has been handed over to Birampur police station in Dinajpur, the official added.
