Barrister AM Mahbub Uddin Khokon from the BNP's Blue Panel was elected as the president and Adv Shah Monjurul Hoque from the Awami League's White Panel was elected as the general secretary of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) for 2024-2025.
The election sub-committee convener senior lawyer Abul Khayer announced the results around 1:30am on Sunday at the SCBA auditorium.
Mahbub Uddin Khokon bagged 2,622 votes, defeating Abu Sayeed Sagor, who got 2,539.
White panel candidate Shah Monjurul Hoque got 2,891 votes, while his nearest rival blue panel candidate Md Ruhul Quddus (Kajal) bagged 1,702 votes.
Out of total 14 posts, the Awami League-backed white panel got 10 posts, including two vice-presidents, two assistant general secretaries, treasurer and four executive members; while BNP-backed panel got the rest four posts, including president and three executive members.
