Four people were killed and three others injured after a fish-laden truck overturned in Elliotganj area of Comilla on Tuesday (Mar 12).
The deceased are - Rafiqul Islam, of Satkhira district, Monir Hossain, Habibur Rahman and Akhter Hossain of Manpura area of Bhola district.
The incident took place at 6 am on Dhaka-Chattogram highway, confirmed Omar Farooq Mollah is in charge of Elliotganj Highway Police Outpost to Banglanews.
Quoting locals Omar Farooq said, a Dhaka bound fish laden truck from Noakhali lost control over its steering and hit another truck and then overturned when reached Elliotganj area of Cumilla.
However, four people were seriously injured after the incident. Later, when they were rushed to a nearby Health Complex, the doctors declared them dead, he said.
He said the bodies are kept at the Elliotganj police outpost, and also the truck involved in the accident has been impounded.
The police officer also said that the bodies will be handed over to their families after the legal process.
