The fire that broke out at a building in the capital’s Hatirpool area Thursday (March 14) evening has been brought under control after about two and a half hours.
Anwarul Islam Dolan, the media cell officer of the fire service headquarters, confirming the matter said four people were rescued from the roof of the building during the fire.
He said the firefighters had to break the walls to conduct their activities as there was no window in the back side of the building.
They brought the fire under control at about 8:00pm.
A total of seven firefighting units of Fire Service and Civil Defence worked to control the fire, he said.
“The fire originated on the second floor of the building in the Hatirpool Kachabazar area and we received the news minutes after 6:04pm,” the officer said.
He also said that the cause of the fire could not be known immediately.
