The government on Monday (April 1) said that Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) would start selling imported onion from India at Taka 40 per kg from tomorrow.
State Minister for Commerce Ahsanul Islam Titu informed the matter while talking to reporters in the capital.
Commerce Ministry Senior Secretary Tapan Kanti Ghosh said that the first consignment out of 50,000 metric tons of onion has already arrived in the country from India while the sale of this onion would start from tomorrow.
Earlier on Sunday, the State Minister informed that the imported onion from India would be sold at Dhaka and Chattogram at Taka 40 per kg.
The imported onion from India would be sold at some 103 spots in Dhaka, 55 spots in Chattogram, 17-20 spots in Gazipur simultaneously at Taka 40 per kg. Each truck will contain 10 tons of onion.
