MADARIPUR: A college student was burnt to death as a fire broke at their house at Purbapuali village under Kalkini upazila of the district early Thursday.

The deceased was identified as Roni Hassan, 25, honors first year student of Kalkini Syed Abul Hossain College.

Sources said that the fire originated at Roni’s house from electric short-circuit at around 4:00am. On information, locals rushed to the spot and doused fire.

But the victim remained trapped inside the house and burnt alive.

Police sources said Kalkini thana police visited to the spot.
