Bashundhara Group begins ‘truck sales’ of essentials at fair price

Bashundhara Group on Thursday (May 16) began countrywide truck sales of commodity products in 100 places of 64 districts marking the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha to reach foods for commoners at affordable prices.

The industrial conglomerate has taken the initiative from its food and beverage unit to give relief to the customers amid growing inflationary pressure in the market.

Bashundhara Group Vice-Chairman Shafiat Sobhan and the Directorate of National Consumers' Right Protection (DNCRP) Director General AHM Shafiquzzaman jointly inaugurated the 'Truck Sale' programme on Thursday.

Officials from 100 spots in 64 districts were connected through a video link to the Bashundhara Industrial Headquarters-2 in the capital.

Addressing the programme, Bashundhara Group Vice-Chairman Shafiat Sobhan said that Bashundhara Group has always been working for the welfare of the country and people.

“We hope this initiative of Bashundhara will have a positive impact on our product supply system. As a result of Bashundhara's activities, the market will be stable. Already five to six groups are doing some such activities. By scaling the activities, common people will get products at 10-20 percent less than the market price,” he said.

Bashundhara Group Sector-A Chief Human Resource Officer Shaikh Ehsan Reza, Chief Operating Officers MM Jasim Uddin and Abdus Shukur, Chief Financial Officer Belal Hossain, Bashundhara Foods and LPG Head of Sales Redhwanur Rahman were present on the occasion.

DNCRP Directors Muhammad Asaduzzaman, Fakir Muhammad Munawar Hossain, Deputy Directors Atia Sultana, Afroza Rahman, Assistant Directors Abdul Jabbar Mondal and Shah Alam were also present at the event.

DNCRP Barishal Division Deputy Director Apurba Adhikary and Executive Magistrate Lutfar Rahman connected from Barishal while Deputy Directors Bikash Chandra Das and Masum Arefin connected from Karwan Bazaar.

Head of Sales Redhwanur Rahman said Bashundhara Food Divisions started the 'Truck Sale' programme on a limited basis last year.

“Keeping consumers in mind, this year we have started this programme on a large scale at 100 locations in all districts under the slogan 'Bashundhara products at affordable prices, for the consumer'. We will continue this program across the country every year as directed by our Vice Chairman,” he said.

Every morning to evening, this truck sale program of 101 consumable products including Bashundhara oil, flour, vermicelli, turmeric, and pepper will be run.

A customer can buy a maximum of one product from one category. If the buyer wants to buy oil, then he can buy any bottle of oil (1 or 2 or 5 litres). All products including flour, spices, tea and rice should be purchased according to this rule.
