A total of 50 sea robbers from 12 groups in the coastal areas of Chattogram and Cox's Bazar have surrendered along with weapons and ammunition under the supervision of RAB-7.
They surrendered in presence of Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan at the Elite Hall of Patenga RAB-7 in the port city on Thursday (May 30) noon.
RAB-7 Senior Assistant Director (Mass Media) Md Sharif-ul-Alam confirmed the matter.
He said total 50 sea robbers from 12 groups in coastal areas of Chattogram and Cox's Bazar districts will surrender unconditionally. Of them 49 are male and 1 female.
Of the 50 sea robbers three were in the list of Ministry of Home Affairs, said the officer.
Total 90 weapons including 35 single-barreled guns, 18 SBBLs, 17 one-shooter guns, 1 double-barreled gun, 1 pistol, 1 revolver, 3 foreign pistols, 1 SMG and 2 airguns and four Waki Talkies, 283 rounds of bullets and cartridges the surrenders submitted, added Sharif.
To be noted, the successful surrender of 77 sea robbers earlier from Chattogram and Cox's Bazar coastal areas in 2018 and 2020 had a positive impact on other sea-rovers.
