Two people were killed and a woman was injured in a collision between a bus and an auto-rickshaw in Nalchata area of Kaliganj upazila of Gazipur.

The accident took place on the Tongi-Ghorasal bypass road on Thursday (June 6) noon.

However, the deceased and injured could not be identified immediately.

Kaliganj Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Maruf Ahmed confirmed the matter.

He said a Tongi-bound bus hit an auto-rickshaw coming from the opposite direction, leaving one person dead on the spot and two injured.

Later, another person died on the way to the hospital, he said. 

The bus was impounded, but the driver fled the scene. Legal action in this regard is under process, the official added.
