A female garment worker was allegedly stabbed to death by unidentified miscreants in Gazipur's Konabari on Wednesday night.
The incident took place around 8:30 pm on Bimile bridge of the Gazipur-Tangail highway.
The victim Rubaia, 23, wife of Masud Rana, hailed from Sherpur's Jhenaigati upazila and used to live in Parizat area under Konabari Police Station.
Gazipur Metropolitan's Konabari Police Station Sub-Inspector Roknuzzaman confirmed the matter.
He said from her garment factory in Basan area, Rubaia was returning to her rented house by a battery-powered auto-rickshaw. At that time, there were two other passengers in that auto. When their auto-rickshaw reached Bimile Bridge, three young men on motorcycles stopped the auto-rickshaw and started an altercation with her.
At one stage, they stabbed her and fled the scene.
Later, Rubaia was rescued and taken to a local clinic in a serious condition. Later, she was taken to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital in Gazipur, where doctors declared her dead.
On information, police recovered the body and sent it to the morgue for autopsy, he also said.
Legal action is being taken in this connection, the SI added.
