At least 10 people were killed as a microbus and auto-rickshaw plunged into a canal after a bridge on the canal collapsed in Amtali upazila of Barguna on Saturday.

A bridge connecting the Chawra and Haldia Hat area of the upazila broke down at around 2pm on Saturday (June 22).

Amtali Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Kazi Sakhawat Hossain Tapu confirmed the matter to Banglanews.

Asadazzaman Mintu Mollik, chairman of Haldia union parishad, said several people were also injured. The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.
