Man in Ctg gets 17 years jail under Arms Act

A man named Abul Khaer was sentenced to 17 years in prison in Chattogram on Monday (June 24).

The 9th Additional District and Sessions Judge Mohammad Manjur Hossain passed the verdict of Chattogram court passed the order.

Chattogram District Public Prosecutor (PP) Advocate Sheikh Iftekhar Saimul Chowdhury confirmed the matter to Banglanews.

He said that the accused was sentenced to 10 years rigorous imprisonment under Section 19(A) and 7 years under Section 19(F) of the Arms Act as the allegations in the arms case were proved by the testimony of 6 witnesses. Both sentences will run concurrently.

The accused is absconding, he said, adding an arrest warrant has been issued against him.
