Quarantine ward opens at Satkhira General Hospital

Satkhira: The newly-built quarantine ward was opened at the Satkhira General Hospital on Sunday to keep the patients, having infectious diseases like Birds flu and Swain flu, in quarantine.

 

Health Minister Dr. AFM Ruhal Haque inaugurated the quarantine ward and visited other wards of the hospitals.

 

Construction, Maintenance and Management Unit of the Health Ministry implemented the Tk. 34.12 lakh scheme, completed in February this year .

 

After the inauguration, Ruhal Haque said the government has completed the recruitment process of nearly 6,300 health assistants to reach the treatment facilities to the poor people.

 

"Over 4,000 physicians will join within two or three weeks while more than 2,500 nurses will be appointed soon," he said.

 

Giving assurance that all vacant posts would be filled up, he also said, some 32,000 health officials and staff are going to be recruited under the sector to facilitated the patients.

 

Besides, more than 13,500 community health assistants will be appointed under community clinics project, the Health Minister added.

 

"Now medicines are being bought centrally for the government hospitals to stop the misuse of the drugs and more medicines can be purchased at the same price than before. The medicines will be wrapped with red and green packets to prevent their illegal sell," he said.

 

Among others, Mayor of Satkhira Municipality Mohammad Ashraf Haque, the Deputy commissioner of Satkhira and the district Civil Surgeon were present.
