Three people including a child were killed as a truck hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw at Patiya upazila in Chattogram early today (July 12).

The accident took place around 12:10am when the Boalkhali-bound truck rammed the Patiya bound auto-rickshaw in Pachuria Military Pool area.

The deceased are - Rumi Akter, 30, Giash Uddin’s wife Fatema Akter, 32, her five-year-old son Fahim, of Patiya, and auto-rickshaw driver Anwar Hossain, 45, of Boalkhali upazila.

Patiya Police Station Officer-in-Charge Jasim Uddin confirmed the matter.

He said the auto driver and its two passengers passed away at Chattogram Medical College Hospital after locals rushed them.

A case in this regard is under process with the police station, OC added.
