The Anti-quota protest organisers are set to stage demonstrations at all public and private universities across the country this afternoon to meet their one-point demand.

Nahid Islam, coordinator Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, came up with the announcement while talking to the media on the Dhaka University (DU) campus on Monday (July 15).

Earlier, a clash between anti-quota protesters and Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activists erupted in front of Bijay Ekattor Hall of Dhaka University on Monday (July 15) afternoon.

At this time, BCL men vandalized some motorcycles.

The clash broke out after 3 pm later it spread to Mall Chattor, Fuller Road, Nilkhet area.

In the clash, nearly 300 students were injured.

As many as 297 injured were treated at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) until 6pm, said an employee at the hospital’s Emergency Department.

Of them, eleven students were admitted to the hospital, he added.

In another development, many police have been deployed on the campus following clashes. The law enforcers were seen taking position at Doyel Chattar and beside Dr Muhammad Shahidullah Hall.

The police said the university administration requested them to take position on the campus only to calm the situation.

Meanwhile, the Dhaka University (DU) has undertaken five decisions, including the ouster of the outsiders from its residential halls against the backdrop of the confrontational situation over the quota reform issue.
