SYLHET: Son of Jatiyatabadi Mohila Dal central leader Shahana Begum Shanu, also former councilor of Sylhet City Corporation, was chopped dead on Sunday.

The victim was identified as Sohan Islam, 18, an intermediate 1st year student of Madan Mohan College in Sylhet.

Shohan’s father Tajul Islam said miscreants intercepted him on his way back to home with primary school going sister Swarna.

Witness and family sources said a 15-20 member gang led by former councilor aspirant also Chhatra Dal leader Shakil Morshed robed Shohan’s cell phone and chopped indiscriminately near Lalbazar police outpost, leaving him injured critically.

Later, he was rushed to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital where on duty doctor declared him dead.

Kotwali Thana Officer-in-Charge Ataur Rahaman Babul confirmed the matter to banglanews.

“Two suspected were nabbed after a drive in the area,” he added.
