Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman is holding a meeting with leaders of different political parties and civil society members at the army headquarters.

Jatiya Party co-chairman Anisul Islam Mahmud and the party secretary general Mujibul Haque Chunnu have also been called in.

After the meeting, the Army chief will address the nation at 3pm on Monday regarding the current situation of the country.

Confirming the matter, the Inter Services Public Relation Directorate (ISPR) requested the public to exercise patience refraining from violence.

Meanwhile, thousands of people have taken to the streets in various parts of the capital with processions.

People with processions started marching towards Shahbagh from places like Jatrabari, Central Shaheed Minar, Badda, Uttara, Rampura, and Mirpur.

People started coming out onto the streets around 1:30pm on Monday.

Besides, several thousands of protesters took position at Shahbagh intersection defying curfew and police barricade.

Earlier in the morning, the protesters tried to take position at Shahbagh but they were barred by police.
