A Dhaka court has dismissed a complaint against the former chief justice and recently resigned chairman of the Law Commission, ABM Khairul Haque, on charges of fraud and forgery centring the 13th Amendment of the Constitution.
Lawyer Imrul Hasan submitted the complaint to the court of Metropolitan Magistrate Dilruba Afrin Tithi on Sunday (August 18).
The court recorded the plaintiff's statement and announced that a decision would be given later. Subsequently, the court dismissed the complaint, citing insufficient grounds for proceeding.
On August 14, ABM Khairul Haque resigned from the position he had held since 2013.
Justice Haque was appointed as the chairman of the Law Commission on July 23, 2013, with the rank of chief justice. His contract was extended three times—in 2016, 2019, and 2022.
