Nayeemul, Subhash sued in Rangpur murder case

Journalists Subhash Singha Roy and former prime minister Sheikh Hasina’s press secretary Md Nayeemul Islam Khan have been accused in a case filed over the killing of Sajjad Hossain during the student movement in Rangpur.

Jitu Begum, wife of the victim, lodged the case with a court in the district on Tuesday afternoon.

Accepting the case, the court ordered the Kotwali police station to record the complaint.

Mofazzal Hossain Bokul, the plaintiff’s lawyer, said Sazzad, who was a mason by profession, was killed on 19 July when police and Awami League men opened fire on demonstrators.

As many as 57 people, including Sheikh Hasina, her sister Sheikh Rehana, former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan, former road transport and bridges minister Obaidul Quader, former law minister Anisul Huq, Hasanul Haque Inu, Rashed Khan Menon, Subhash Singha, and Nayeemul Islam, and 300 unnamed others have been made accused in the case.
