A fire broke out at a 12-storey residential building in the capital's Dhanmondi area on Wednesday (Aug 21).

The fire originated on the eighth floor of a 12-storey building at Dhanmondi-5 around 10:25am. 

Media officer Shahjahan Sikder from fire service headquarters confirmed the matter.

After getting information, six units rushed to the scene and doused the blaze around 11:17 am, he said.

The firefighters rescued three people who were trapped inside the building.

Primarily, the reason behind the fire could not be known yet, she added.
