Chief Correspondent and anchor Farzana Rupa and Chief News Editor Shakil Ahmed of a private television has been detained at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA).

They were detained by the airport immigration authorities this morning (August 21).

According to airport authorities, the former employees fired by Ekattor Television authorities was not allowed to cross immigration as immigration police didn’t get clearance from the city SB. 

Another source informed media that Rupa and Shakil was supposed to leave country for Paris of France by a Turkish airline flight name TK-713.

On August 8, a notice signed by Mustafa Azad on behalf of the managing director of Ekattor Television informed that, according to the decision and instructions of the management authority of Ekattor Media Limited, Rupa-Shakil has been fired.
