KUSHTIA: Eleven activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir, including its local president, were detained from the district town early Sunday, in the wake of a virtual crackdown on Jamaat-Shibir activists.

Police nabbed district chief of Shibir Majharul Haque and others in a raid on a students’ mess in the town’s Kalisangkarpur area.

They were sent to jail, said Sadar thana OC Asaduzzaman.

They were arrested on charge of “subversive acts” during the last two days of countrywide demonstrations sponsored by Jamaat over the recent arrest of its top leaders.
