FROM IJTEMA GROUND: Thousands of devotees are still thronging the bank of Turag River to join Biswa Ijtema, the second largest Muslim congregation after the holy Hajj, on Saturday, the second day of the three-day religious event.
On the other hand, two more devotees died due to cold related diseases at Biswa Ijtema ground in Tongi of Gazipur on early hours of the day.
Earlier, five other devotees died due to cold related diseases and accident from Thursday night to Friday morning.
The second phase Ijtema has started formally on Friday with the boyans (sermons) of Indian Maulana Jamshed Aam and it will end February 2 through offering Akheri Munajat.
The bank of Turag has already been flooded with thousands of devotees from home and abroad to take part in the religious event.
The religious event includes delivering boyans (sermons) on the fundamental issues of Tabligh, prayer for the spiritual adoration, exaltation and welfare of the Muslim Ummah.
The first phase of Biswa Ijtema was held at the same venue on January 24-26.
