Nizami-Babar on way to Dhaka

CHITTAGONG: The four convicts of 10-truck arms haul cases including Jamaat-e-Islami leader Matiur Rahman Nizami, former state minister for home affairs Lutfozzaman Babar are on the way to Dhaka jail in a prison van.

Sources said the prisoners had left Chittagong at around 10:40am form Dhaka amid tight security. Meanwhile, they were seen crestfallen and tired.

Chittagong Central Jail Jailer Rafiqul Quader told banglanews, “There are more cases against the four convicts and that’s why they are being sent to the Dhaka Central Jail.”

Earlier on January 30, Special Tribunal-1 Judge SM Mojibur Rahman passed the verdict awarding 14 accused to death penalty on charge of much-talked-about sensational 10-truck arms haul cases.
