Three people, including a woman and her son, were strangulated to death at their house in Cumilla's Homna upazila early today (Sept 5).

The deceased were identified as Mahmuda Akter, 35, wife of Shah Poran; their nine-year-old son Shahad; and Tisha, 14, daughter of Shahporan's maternal cousin.

Police recovered the bodies from a house at Ghagutia village in the upazila around 10:45 am.

Locals said Shahporan works in Dhaka. His wife, son and niece were sleeping at night. Miscreants entered the house secretly and killed them wrapping a scarf on their necks and fled the scene.

Homna Police Station OC Joynal Abedin said the bodies were sent to Cumilla Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
