Stressing the need for reform to the state organs, Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus has said that the interim government has taken a decision to form a total six commissions to start a fresh journey of the country.

“We have decided to form six commissions as a primary step to reform the state. To conduct the work of the commissions, six eminent citizens have been entrusted with the task of the commissions, considering their experiences,” he said.

The chief adviser of the interim government said this in his 33 minutes addressing to the nation on Wednesday evening.

As head of the Election Reform Commission, Badiul Alam Majumdar, founder secretary of the Citizens for Good Governance (SHUJAN), will works to bring necessary reform to the country’s existing electoral system.

Sarfraz Chowdhury will lead the Police Administration Reform Commission, Justice Shah Abu Naeem Mominur Rahman will lead the Judiciary Reform Commission, Dr Iftekharuzzaman will lead the Anti-Corruption Reform Commission, Abdul Mueed Chowdhury will lead the Public Administration Reform Commission, while Dr Shahdeen Malik will oversee the Constitution Reform Commission.

It is his third address to the nation since his appointment as the chief adviser to the interim government.

Bangladesh Television, BTV World and BTV Chittagong and private television channels broadcasted his address simultaneously.
