RAJSHAHI: Four separate cases were filed against 600 students of Rajshahi University in connection with student’s demonstration and violence on the campus on Sunday.
The cases were filed at Motihar Police Station on Monday afternoon.
Saad Ahmed, Deputy Registrar of Rajshahi University, filed two cases against a total of 300 students. Of them, some 110 students were named and rests were enlisted as unidentified.
Chitta Ranjan, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Motihar Thana, confirmed the matter to banglanews.
Besides, police filed two other cases against 300 students and 90 were identified, said SI Muniruzzaman.
Earlier, over 100 Rajshahi University (RU) students were injured, including 20 with bullets, as police swung into action while they were agitating on the campus in protest against fee hike and continuation of evening master’s programmes on Sunday.
Later, the university authorities closed the university for an indefinite period to quell the unrest.
The students had been staging demonstration on the campus since January 16 protesting the authority’s decision to hike their academic fees and commencing evening programmes at the university.
