Cohorts of ousted fascist to be brought to justice: Mahfuj Alam

Chief Adviser’s Special Assistant Mahfuj Alam has said the interim government is committed to bringing all the cohorts of the ousted fascist government to justice.

He said: “The interim government has a clear stance on bringing all the cohorts of the fascist, who were involved in offenses, to justice.”

Mahfuj Alam was briefing the media at Foreign Service Academy in the capital on Saturday (October 5) night.

Mahfuj said the government has passed only two months and within the brief time, it has given priority to reform work and maintaining law and order situation in the country.

“At the same time, many of those, who were the cohorts of the fascist and involved in mass killings, were arrested. And they must be brought to justice. This is our clear stance,” he added.

Replying to a question, the special assistant said the government is working to check the price hike of essential commodities by severing syndicates of businessmen.

Speaking at the press briefing, Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam said the six reform commissions, formed by the government, will submit their reports to the government in consultation with stakeholders concerned.

Then, the government will reach a consensus by holding discussions with the political parties and will announce a roadmap for the general elections, he said.

At the same time, Alam said, Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus mentioned that the election preparatory work would go on.

He said the chief adviser also hinted that more reform commissions would be formed as per the recommendations to be given by the political parties.
