Police yesterday detained a man while he was vandalising a gate of a temple in Bhola.

The detained man is Shimul Chandra, 35, a resident of Sadar upazila's Bapta union.

Meanwhile, superintendent of Bhola police Mohammad Shariful Haque gave Tk 1,000 to ASI Manik as gift for managed to detain Shimul.

Around 7AM on Wednesday, ASI Manik was on-duty at Bhola municipal area under ward no 1. Suddenly, he found that a man was vandalising a gate of puja mandap and also throwing brickchips.

The ASI then caught the attacker from the spot, Bhola Sadar Model Police Station OC Mizanur Rahman confirmed the matter.

Shimul Chandra's family claimed that he has been mentally imbalanced for a long time.
