DHAKA: The third Boeing 777-300 ER named ‘Akash Prodip’, bought by Biman Bangladesh Airlines, landed at Shahjalal International Airport at 1:05pm Friday.
Biman officials, on Thursday, received the aircraft at the Seattle headquarters of Boeing.
Chief Engineer Debobroto Banik from the aircraft confirmed the matter to banglanews.
Biman Bangladesh Airlines bought the aircraft, christened Akash Prodip, from the US maker with about $178 million loans from international banks.
Biman officials expect the aircraft would go a long way in helping improve the services of the national carrier and better maintenance of flight schedule.
The 777-300 ER, the third of its kind in Biman`s fleet, was purchased under a 10-plane deal with Boeing signed during the last caretaker government`s tenure.
Earlier on 2011, same kind of two aircrafts named Palki and Arun Alo were added with the fleet of Bangladesh Biman.
A program will be arranged at VIP lounge of the airport on February 11 for formal addition of the Boeing in the fleet of Bangladesh Biman. The Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina, is expected to join the program.
