Heavy rainfall on Saturday morning, accompanied by lightning and gusty winds, led to waterlogging in various parts of the capital, causing significant hardship for commuters.
Despite the Durga Puja holiday keeping most educational institutions and offices closed, Hindu devotees faced difficulties navigating waterlogged, muddy streets on their way to temples.
Some private office workers also struggled due to a shortage of transportation.
Sayed Shimul, a private employee, said he struggled to reach his workplace in Baridhara from Mohakhali on time due to a lack of available vehicles and flooded roads during the rain.
The rain, triggered by an active monsoon, began around 6 am and continued for an hour.
Bangladesh Meteorological Department, Dhaka recorded 20 mm of rainfall from Friday morning until Saturday morning. He added that rainfall may decrease in the next 72 hours before picking up again.
