DHAKA: Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury is going to visit India for a 4-day February 12 at of the invitation of Speaker of Lok Sabha Smt Meira Kumar.

The Indian High Commission in Bangladesh came up with the disclosure on their webpage on Tuesday.

This is her maiden visit to India as Speaker. During the visit, the Speaker of Bangladesh will hold discussions with the Speaker of Lok Sabha and meet other Indian dignitaries.

The visit is a part of high level exchange between India and Bangladesh, which aims to foster better understanding and friendship between the two countries.

However, earlier in February 2009, the Indian Speaker Shri Somnath Chatterjee visited Bangladesh.
