The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested the manager of controversial former Cox’s Bazar MP Abdur Rahman Bodi, also known as "Yaba Bodi."
The arrestee Jafar, a former chairman of Teknaf Upazila, is listed by the Ministry of Home Affairs as one of the top drug dealers in Bangladesh.
RAB-15’s Senior Assistant Director (Legal and Media), Additional Superintendent of Police Md. Kamruzzaman, confirmed the matter on Friday (Nov 1).
He said that Jafar was detained in a joint operation by RAB-3 and RAB-15 teams in Dhaka’s Purba Basabo area at around 3 a.m. on October 31.
Kamruzzaman also said that Jafar is being transferred from Dhaka to Cox’s Bazar for further processing and investigation.
This arrest marks another effort by RAB in their ongoing crackdown on narcotics networks in Bangladesh.
