The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has banned all forms of public gathering at and around the central office of Jatiya Party (JaPa) on Saturday (November 2) to maintain public order.
The decision came hours after demonstrations and counter-demonstrations were called at the site by Jatiya Party and a student platform.
The DMP issued a public notice, signed by DMP Commissioner Md Mainul Hasan, in this regard today (November 1).
The public notice states that, in order to maintain public order in response to the recently arisen situation, under the powers conferred by Section 29 of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Ordinance (Ordinance No. III/76), any kind of meeting, assembly, procession, rally, demonstration, etc. has been prohibited tomorrow (November 2), in and around the area of Building 66, Pioneer Road, Kakrail.
Earlier on Friday evening, JP central office in Kakrail when was set on fire and vandalised by a group of people marching under the banner of "Anti-fascist students, workers, and masses".
