CA Yunus leaves for Azerbaijan to join COP29 Summit

Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus departed from Dhaka today for a four-day state visit to Baku, Azerbaijan, to attend the 29th Conference of Parties (COP29), a global climate summit.

The press secretary, Shafiqul Alam, confirmed that a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight carrying the Chief Adviser and his delegation took off from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 11 am.

Earlier, Shafiqul Alam mentioned that Professor Yunus would be on an official visit to Baku from November 11 to 14 for the climate conference. He highlighted that Professor Yunus has a packed schedule during his stay.

Representing one of the world's most climate-vulnerable nations, Bangladesh will present its concerns and demands regarding the impacts of climate change at the summit.

The Chief Adviser is expected to address multiple forums at COP29 and hold meetings with other dignitaries attending the event.

This year, COP29 is being hosted by Azerbaijan at Baku Stadium, continuing the tradition of the annual conference, where the presidency rotates among the five UN-recognized regions. Azerbaijan, known for successfully organizing international events, is the chosen host for this year's conference.
