A college student, Md Abdullah, who was shot by police during recent anti-discrimination student protest, has passed away.
Abdullah died while receiving treatment at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) on Thursday (November 14) at around 9:30 a.m.
The matter was confirmed by Kazi Saiful Islam, a teacher in the Bengali department of Government Shaheed Suhrawardy College.
Abdullah was a fourth-year political science student of the 2019-20 session at Suhrawardy College, originally from Benapole in Jashore. He had been actively involved in the protest since it began.
According to reports, Abdullah was shot in the middle of his forehead on August 5, around 7:00 p.m., in front of Bangshal police station near Tantibazar in the capital.
After lying injured for two to three hours, he was first taken to Mitford Hospital and later transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where he underwent surgery from 3:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m.
He was released two days later and returned home.
However, after experiencing severe pain, he was brought back to DMCH, where doctors found an infection inside his head, with fluid similar to plasma oozing out.
He underwent another surgery and was later transferred to CMH on August 22 due to his worsening condition.
