A group of robbers broke into a medical staff quarter in capital’s Azimpur, on Friday (Nov 15) morning, looting valuables and kidnapped an 8-month-old baby.
The victim, Farzana Akter, an employee of the home ministry, was at home with her husband and child when the incident occurred.
The robbers took Tk1.5 lakh in cash, four bhori of gold jewellery, and her baby daughter.
Officer-in-Charge of Lalbagh Police Station, Kasheinu, confirming the matter said that police have started a search operation to apprehend the criminals and rescue the child.
This incident adds to a series of crimes reported since the fall of Sheikh Hasina's government three months ago, as the interim administration struggles to address security challenges following the regime change.
