Two motorcyclists were killed after being hit by a passenger bus on the Rajshahi- Chapainawabganj highway on Friday (Nov 15) afternoon. 

The accident occurred around 3:45 pm in the Abhaya-Kamarpara area of Godagari upazila.

The deceased were identified as Ashraful Islam, 42, son of Humayun Kabir of Komolakantapur Kajipara village, and Nazmul Haque, 30, son of Md Kalu of the same village in Shibganj upazila, Chapainawabganj.

Mahbubur Rahman Noyon, a station fire fighter of Godagari Fire Service and Civil Defence, said Ashraful and Nazmul were traveling towards Chapainawabganj on a motorcycle when a passenger bus hit them from behind and fled the scene. Both victims died on the spot.

Upon receiving information, fire service personnel recovered the bodies and handed them over to the police.

Moazzem Hossain, Inspector (Investigation) of Godagari Police Station, confirming the matter said the bus involved in the accident has not been identified yet, but efforts are underway. 

The bodies are being kept at the police station, and their families have been informed, he said, adding the bodies will be handed over to the families after completing legal procedures. 

A case will be filed regarding the incident, the official added.
