Members of the Officers and Employees Joint Council postponed their previously announced rally slated to be held on December 4 to press their nine-point demand including promotions and wage discrimination.
The decision came up after the Public Administration Secretary, Land Secretary, and Public Administration APD held a meeting with the leaders of the Secretariat's 'Employee-Employee Joint Council' on Sunday (December 1).
Md Mokhlesur Rahman, Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration, stated that the employees' demands are reasonable. While some of the demands were addressed immediately, others will take time as they are linked to the Ministries of Law, Land, and Finance.
"Those demands not yet fulfilled do not mean they won't be addressed in the days to come. The employees' demands will be met gradually. However, there are certain legal issues that need to be discussed with the Chief Adviser," said land secretary ASM Saleh Ahmed and APD.
In this regard, Badiul Kabir, president of the United Council, said, "We have conducted a meeting with Public Administration Secretary, Land Secretary and senior official. They accepted the legitimacy of our demands. The demands will be implemented after discussing them with us in stages. Therefore, we have announced to postpone the grand rally."
