Neighbouring media spreading false news about Bangladesh: Home Adviser

Adviser to the Ministry of Home Affairs, Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said that some media outlets in neighbouring countries are spreading false news about Bangladesh.

He made the remark on Monday (Dec 2) while responding to questions from journalists during a visit to Rangpur. The questions focused on issues related to minority communities and ISKCON.

“There is no instability in Bangladesh. The media in our neighboring country often spreads misinformation about us. However, Bangladeshi media can counter their false propaganda by disseminating the truth.” the adviser said.”

Speaking about the widespread cases filed during the July-August protests, the adviser noted, “We will bring to justice those responsible for filing false cases related to the protests. We are also forming a committee to ensure that no one is punished unjustly due to these baseless cases.”

His comments come amidst growing concerns over the portrayal of Bangladesh in regional media and the implications of politically motivated cases on justice and stability.
