The High Court today (December 10) summarily dismissed a writ petition seeking an investigation into corruption allegations against more than 50 lower court judges in Bangladesh. 

Justice Farah Mahbub and Justice Debashish Ray Chowdhury rejected the petition filed by advocate Aminul Ehsan Jubair, where Additional Attorney General Arshadur Rouf moved for the state.

The petition was based on a media report published on October 14, which claimed that nearly fifty judges and officials had amassed "unbelievable wealth," with hundreds of crores allegedly in their accounts. 

The article, titled "Unbelievable Wealth of Nearly Fifty Judges and Officials: Hundreds of Crores in Their Accounts," was cited as the primary source of the allegations.

During the hearing, Additional Attorney General Arshadur Rouf represented the state, while advocate Jubair argued for the investigation into the corruption claims. 

The High Court summarily rejected the writ petition after hearing both sides.

Law Secretary, Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Commission and Registrar General of Bangladesh Supreme Court were made respondents in the writ.
