Dr. Badiul Alam Majumdar, Chief of the Election Reform Commission, said that people in the country are seeking free, fair, and impartial election.
He made the remark while speaking at a discussion on election reforms held at the Chattogram District Administration office on Sunday (Dec 22).
Badiul Alam said that thousands of suggestions have been submitted through the commission's website and email, all echoing the demand for credible elections.
He said, “Our task is to make recommendations based on what we have learned from the public, our knowledge, experience, and judgment. However, implementation is not our responsibility—it rests with political parties, the government, and officials. Everyone must contribute to achieving this goal.”
He clarified that decisions regarding participation in elections or inclusion in the process are matters for the Election Commission.
Other commission members, including Dr. Tofail Ahmed, Jesmin Tuli, Dr. Mohammad Abdul Alim, student representative Sadiq Arman, and Chattogram Deputy Commissioner Farida Khanam, were present at the event.
