MUNSHIGANJ: An accused was snatched away by relatives attacking police at Gozaria upazila of the district early Monday.

The escaped man is Jamal Hossain, 29, accused of a rape case.

Locals said police arrested Jamal, nephew of upazila chairman aspirant Kalim Ullah of Jatiya Party, in the rape case at 1:00am.

Later, relatives attacked police when they returned to thana with the accused and snatched him, leaving seven policemen, including two sub-inspectors, injured.

Officer-in-Charge of Gozaria Thana Mamun-or-Rashid told banglanews: “Police started drive to nab the accused and attackers of police.”

On Sunday, three JMB members, convicted in different cases, were snatched away from law enforcers.
