LGRD Adviser Asif Mahmud has vowed that those behind a conspiracy to sabotage the interim government will not be spared, following a massive fire that destroyed multiple ministry offices at the Bangladesh Secretariat early this morning.
In a Facebook post, Asif Mahmud confirmed that the full extent of the damage is still unknown.
He revealed the fire occurred amid investigations into embezzlement and corruption in the Ministry of Local Government, where evidence of misappropriation worth thousands of crore taka had been found.
"We will ensure that those behind these conspiracies are held accountable, no matter the circumstances," Asif said, emphasizing that the government’s fight against corruption remains unwavering.
Earlier today, a fire that broke out in Secretariat building number 7 in the capital's Segunbagicha area, was brought under control after six hours.
