Michael Chakma, leader of the United Peoples Democratic Front (UPDF), has filed a written complaint against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and eight others at the International Crimes Tribunal on charges of enforced disappearance.
The complaint was submitted on Monday (Dec 30) morning, to the office of the Chief Prosecutor of the tribunal.
Prosecutor Abdullah Al Noman accepted the complaint.
Rehnuma Ahmed, a former Jahangirnagar University teacher and rights activist, accompanied Chakma during the submission.
Previously, on December 18, Michael Chakma made an oral complaint to the prosecution.
The complaint related to the alleged abduction of Michael Chakma on April 9, 2019. His family and party have claimed that he went missing after that date, with no trace for five years. However, following the student-led movement and the fall of the Awami League government on August 5, 2024, Michael Chakma was found on August 7, blindfolded, at a location in Chittagong.
