8 to hang for killing Alim

DHAKA: A Dhaka court on Tuesday awarded death penalty to eight people, including three siblings, in the Ward Commissioner Abdul Alim murder case.
 
The convicts are M Harun, M Siraj, M Shawkat, M Shiblu, M Kamal and Syed Ahmad and his two brothers Rashid Ahmad and Farid Ahmad.
 
Additional Session Judge of Dhaka-3 M Akhtaruzzaman passed the order.      
 
Alim, Commissioner of Ward No-62 in Lalbagh, was killed on February 8, 1996.
 
Among the accused, Shiblu, Shawkat and Kamal are fugitives from the law.
