Three people were killed and five others injured in a collision between a private car, brick-laden truck, and motorcycle in the Atlaspur Jelepara area of Rupganj in Narayanganj, on Wednesday (Jan 1) morning.
The incident happened around 9 am on the Rupshi-Kanchan Road when a Dhaka airport-bound private car lost control over its steering and hit pedestrians.
Following the incident, Ramdas and Obaidul Munshi were dead on the spot.
At the same time, a brick-laden truck struck a motorcyclist, Hridoy, 26, leaving him dead on the spot.
Sub-Inspector Zahir Mia of Bhulta Police Outpost confirmed the matter.
He said five others were injured in the collisions.
Police detained the drivers of both the private car and the truck for questioning, he said.
The injured were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment, the official added.
