Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, ranked seventh globally for the worst air quality with an AQI score of 188 at 9:10 am on Friday (Jan 3).

The air quality was classified as "unhealthy," posing health risks to the general public, according to the AQI index.

Cities like Hanoi, Lahore, and Delhi topped the list with AQI scores of 254, 248, and 222, respectively.

The AQI measures air pollution based on pollutants like particulate matter, NO2, CO, SO2, and ozone.

Dhaka has struggled with air pollution, especially during winter months, while the situation improves in the monsoon season.

The World Health Organization estimates that air pollution causes around seven million deaths annually worldwide.
